King Penguins, Fortune Bay, South Georgia – Title: Taking in daylight – Code: ANT5973

The Story

michael_0306.jpgThis shot was taken at Fortune Bay on South Georgia, a sub Antarctic island. The brown ones are the juvenile King Penguin’s, they will eventually loose there brown feathers and turn into adult. The interesting thing was that it didn’t smell that much, but it was the November, the beginning of summer. The colony was at the edge of a bay in a huge valley that had ridges either side of the colony as you see in the background of this shot. The wind was blowing a little up through the valley and they had their backs to the wind.
